Changes in Service Rates

This is copy from an email sent to GKH clients to notify folks about upcoming changes in rates.

Hope this finds you well. I need to let you know about upcoming changes to your hosting rates.

You may recall early 2009 when we lowered prices and started offering unlimited plans. I'd hoped it would help at a time when many shared financial concerns, and allow us all to stay competitive in a tough economic climate. Since then, time demands and operating costs have increased, but without sufficeint growth to cover expenses.

So effecitve January 1, 2011, we're going back to the 2008 rates--$14.95/month for Dharma plan and $24.95 for the Zen plan. Annual payments will have a 10% discount, and bi-annual payments are discounted by 20%.

This will NOT impact services you've already paid for, but will be in effect for renewals from January 1 on. Unlimited plans are no longer available, so the new plan specifications will go into effect upon renewal. New plans were carefully designed to accomodate how services are currently being used, so in practice, the limits should not impact day-to-day use of your sites.

I'd offered Complimentary Hosting with certain Maintenece Contracts, and grandfathered in rates for others. I'm sorry, but I'm unable to continue this practice. Effecitve January 1, all hosting services will be invoiced at normal rates. You can continue your maintence contract even if you opt to host elsewhere. The minimum monthly rate for maintenece contracts for everyone will become $60 on January 1st.

I am also no longer able to provide consulting or minor site updates without charge as some have come to expect. For questions or advice NOT related to your hosting services, please expect to purchase a block of on-call consulting time. I also will be enforcing Rush Fees. I understand that some may opt to host elsewhere, and I completely respect you making the decision that best suits your needs. Like always, I'll do my absolute best to make sure you continue to get the level of service you have come to expect. These changes are necessary for me to be able to continue providing that service.
