Subdomains are prefixes added to a domain name that replace the "www" portion. If you have a domain called "mydomain.com," a subdomain for that domain could be called "another.mydomain.com."

To create a subdomain in your control panel, choose the "Subdomains" icon. If you're creating a subdomain called "another," then your control panel will create the folder called "another" when you set up the subdomain. Be sure you do NOT already have a folder with the name you want to give the subdomain - delete or rename it, if you have one - or you won't be able to create your new subdomain.

Your subdomain will be managed through your hosting control panel just like your main domain.
