| The Socket Error 10060 when trying to send outbound email can mean different things. It's basically a generic error meaing you're having problems connecting. As if you didn't know that already! If you're setting up a new email account, there is probably a problem with configuration. Please review all your settings and if you're unsure of what to do, open a support ticket, copying and pasting the error message if possible. For an existing email account that used to work and then quit, there could be a change in your Internet Service Provider's (ISP) setup. Many ISPs block port 25, the default outbound email port, to limit spam. If your email was working and it suddenly stopped, this is a good place to look. The first (and easiest) thing to try is change the smtp port to either 26 or 587. Either of these work with our mail servers, and one or the other may not be blocked by your ISP. Sometimes this is all it takes. Some ISPs, however, require you to send all outbound email through their network, even for your website domain. That is to help them monitor email traffic better and track down spammers. More and more ISPs are doing this as the fight against spam is constantly morphing. If this is the case, your outbound email (SMTP) settings will need to match the information provided to you by your internet provider. Firewall issues can also cause this error, so do check your firewall settings if the above suggestions don't help.
