Default behavior for most browsers is to color links you've recently visited purple and leave unvisited links blue, as determined by your browser's history cache. This increases usability for visitors by allowing them to easily determine if a link has been visited or not.

This color scheme can easily be changed for your website visitors via your site's CSS file, or for the sites you visit personally, in your browser settings.
