Differences Between Addon, Parked and Subdomains
| With such similar-sounding names, Addons, Parked and Subdomains are easy to confuse. Here's a quick guide to the differences:
- Addon Domains - These are extra domains for additional sites. This lets you run more than one site on a single hosting account with a single control panel. You can create an addon domain from your control panel, which will make a new folder in your hosting account. If you set up a site for newdomain.com, the folder's name will be "newdomain." This domain will look and behave the same for visitors as your main hosted domain.
- Parked Domains - These are second web addresses that are "parked" on top of existing web address. When a domain is parked, more than one domain is pointing to a single website.
- Subdomains - This is adding a prefix to an existing domain. For example, this Support Center is located at thanks.goodkarmahost.com, which is a subdomain of goodkarmahost.com.
