Good Karma Host LLC's Consulting Terms and Conditions

For web consulting provided by Dixie Vogel, formerly dba dvogel.com, or directly through Good Karma Host LLC: Most projects require a written agreement, and most work is done on a project basis (meaning I charge a flat fee for the entire project), but we can arrange hourly billing if appropriate.

  • No Surprises Policy—If anything comes up with your project that would generate additional charges, I get authorization from you before the charges are incurred. You won't be surprised with an invoice for items or work you didn't approve.

  • Deposit—For most projects, I require a 50% deposit to commence work. If the project gets canceled after I start, that deposit is not refundable.

  • Scope—The scope of the project is outlined in your agreement. Please review the details carefully to make sure you know exactly what the agreement covers and that it includes everything you expect. Making additions to the project later will increase the cost of your project.

  • Purchases—If specific photos, scripts, programs, etc. must be purchased for a project, I will consult with you before any purchase is made. Unless specified in your agreement, these costs are not included in the web design fees. You may be asked to make the purchase directly or provide a payment to cover the costs before the purchases are made.

  • Revisions—I make work in progress available for review, and will ask you to approve the project at various stages. Moderate revisions are expected, but once you've approved work, significant revisions or redesigns will involve additional charges.

  • Maintenance—I include one month of maintenance and minor revisions in all my web design agreements. Ongoing site maintenance will be billed hourly unless we negotiate a maintenance agreement for the work. (If I've made an error, however, I will correct it whenever it is discovered without additional charges)

  • Copyrights—The copyrights on work created for your project are transferred to you upon final payment for the project. I normally will retain the right to display images of the site in my portfolio and/or link to the finished site.

  • Payments—Due dates and terms are outlined in your agreement. Late charges may apply to past due payments. See additional payment information here.

  • I stand behind my work. At any time, if an error is ever discovered in work I've done for you, I will correct it without charge. If you are unhappy with my work for any reason, I encourage you to contact me so I can address any problems and work out any concerns to our mutual satisfaction. I believe in win-win situations! Please note: The No-Errors Guarantee does not include issues that I am not directly responsible for (such as an application that stops working after a PHP upgrade, for example) or errors introduced by others working on a site. While I can certainly help you correct such issues, that is considered billable time.

Maintenance Agreements are billed at a lower hourly rate, and are best suited for people who need at least monthly updates. As-needed work is billed at a higher hourly rate, and is better suited for people that only need occasional changes or who may do their own site updates but sometimes need help. Service contracts fees are consistent every month, and may be renegotiated based on a client's changing needs.

Service contracts are offered on a month-to-month basis, due near the beginning of a month for that month's service. Service agreements can be canceled at any time, but require at least 30 days notice when canceling. If an agreement is canceled without notice, the final month's fees will still be due.

Please note: If your account is past due, ALL services (including webhosting) may be suspended until your account is brought current. Thank you for your understanding.

Your business is appreciated! Thank you for being a Good Karma Host!
